Budget could have been announced four times with money from 15 years of looting: Chhatra Shibir president
Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam said, Bangladesh is a country of immense potential. The amount of looting and money laundered abroad in the last 15 years could have been used to announce the budget four times. A small government office peon has built a 20-storey building in Dhaka. All this has been done with the hard-earned money of farmers.

Zahidul Islam said these words as the chief guest at the reception of meritorious students of all schools and madrasas of the upazila and students who got GPA-5 in SSC, Dakhil and equivalent examinations organized by the ‘Ulipur Unnayan Forum’ at the Maharani Swarnamoyi School and College grounds in Ulipur, Kurigram on Saturday.
Criticizing the members of parliament of the previous government, Zahidul Islam further said, ‘Parliament was a place to talk about changing the fate of people. But Momtaz used to sing there. There was also an MP who, even after writing the script, would stumble while reading it. Such people became MPs and led.’
Zahidul Islam said to the meritorious students, ‘It is not a big deal which family or lineage you are born in. You have to decide where you want to go. You have to move forward to fulfill your dreams. Only then can you be established in the society.’
Shah Hossain Ahmed Mehdi, Professor of Zoology Department, Rajshahi University, spoke as a special guest at the function presided over by Mahbubul Alam Salehi, Chairman of ‘Ulipur Unnayan Forum’ and Jamaat-nominated candidate for Kurigram-3 constituency. Around 4,000 students from 220 educational institutions of the upazila participated in the reception. They were given crests.
